Here at VR we are all very aware of our responsibility to give something back to the community. We support and have supported many charities over the years. Including Demelza House where a couple of years ago we donated 10% of the £30,000 which was being raised by local papers to provide an additional nurse.
A proportion of the company’s profits are donated to charities in some way or another. Our charities include SNAAP in our local town, The Pilgrims Hospice, The Royal School for the Deaf, The Royal National institute for the Blind, and the Royal National Lifeboat Institute. Recently we supported “Whacky Races” a fabulous fundraising event organised by The Martha Trust. The event included 9 teams that drove from Dover to Frankfurt, Geneva, Paris and back to Dover in just four days in cars worth no more than £100.
The Trust managed to raise over £10,000 and VR are proud to have been a part of it. Martin Crowther, managing director of VR Sani-Co Ltd makes the point that without support from businesses as well as the general public many charities, which do such excellent and vital work, would struggle to survive. Martin himself is involved in the local community as chair of governors at the local junior school as vice chair of the local improvement and conservation trust.
He has also helped judge local schools business enterprise competitions for several years and the company has provided work experience placements for both local and overseas students. Running a responsible and caring washroom services company is much more than just the servicing of the bins themselves, however important that might be!
