Ever since VR Sani-Co began providing their Sanitary Bin Disposal Service in the Kent area they have been conscious of their responsibility in giving something back to the community.
They have supported a number of local charities, such as Demelza House where a couple of years ago they donated almost 10% of the £30,000 being raised by the local papers to provide an additional full time nurse. Indeed, quite a significant proportion of the company’s profits are regularly donated to charities in some way or other. Other Charities that they have supported, many on a regular basis, are SNAAP in Herne Bay, Pilgrims Hospice in Canterbury, The Royal School for the Deaf in Thanet, The Royal National Institute for the Blind, and The Royal National Lifeboat Institute. They have also donated some £1500 to help build a school in Tanzania.
In their everyday business they give special discounts to charities that use their Sanitary and/or Nappy Bin Disposal Service and in specially selected cases the service is provided without charge.
Martin Crowther, Managing Director of VR Sani-Co makes the point that without support from businesses as well as the general public many charities, which do such excellent and vital work, would struggle to survive.
Martin himself is also involved in the local community in a numbers of ways, as Chair of Governors at Herne Bay Junior School and also Vice Chair of the Herne Bay Improvement and Conservation Trust. He has also been involved in judging the local schools business enterprise competitions for a number of years and VR Sani-Co has provided places, help and support for work experience students from both local educational establishments and for overseas students.
The benefit gained is not all one way though, a group of students at Canterbury Christ Church University recently did a marketing project on VR Sani-Co to look at ways of increasing both the sales and profitability of their sanitary bin services through new and more up to date ways of marketing the company and its services. Many of these have now been put into practice and proving to be successful.
Running a responsible and caring Sanitary Bin Disposal Service Company is much more than just the servicing of the bins themselves, however important that might be.
